8/11/17 Layla enjoys reading

Layla in Year 3 has been using pictures and beginning sounds to help herself work out unknown words in her reading book.

She is determined to work out the words on her own and only asks for help if she is stuck. She is very proud of being able to read many of the stories without much help.

Layla now enjoys stories and looks carefully when we choose a new book.

She recognises many of the tricky words, that she has learnt, within the text.

We play games to help her retain words learnt and to build her sight vocabulary.  Continue reading

WC 29/2/16 Ashlee creates a play dough picture

Ashlee then made some  play dough slugs to go with his sentence! Here the slugs are taking a look at the words in the sentence to check they are in  the right order.

Layla in year 1 has made some large letter I’s to help her learn this tricky word. She has really enjoyed this and proudly shows them to everyone. Layla is now taking them home to show her family. We are also making mini books based on her favourite picture book Dear Zoo. Each page has the text “I see……” with an animal picture from the book.  Layla loves choosing the animals for each page and reading back the ‘story’ too!
