Kayden loves Mog’s Christmas Calamity by Judith Kerr

Kayden J in Y3 chose this book to share today. He had remembered lots of phrases from the text because Mr Beesley read it to the class last week. I was very impressed with his memory of  the story and how enthusiastic he was to join in where he could.  He also explained why he thought Mog was  a hero even though she started the fire.
He is showing a real interest in stories which is delightful.

Kayden enjoys ” The Grinch” December 11th

Kayden J in Year 3 has enjoyed sharing Christmas picture books from the displays around school. His favourite so far is How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr Seuss.

Kayden says that he likes this because he has seen the film.

He comments on the pictures demonstrating his understanding of the story. Having read it together on a couple of occasions he is already beginning to join in with the text where it is becoming familiar.

I am hoping that Kayden will pick out a few more festive picture books to listen to over the next ten days. Although I feel that The Grinch will remain his favourite!

Hmm….

Kayden in Year 3 has been enjoying Hmm… by Colin McNaughton this week. We talked about all the jobs that Mr Wolf could do and Kayden told me he would like to be a cook. Kayden helped me to read the story today and recognised some of the tricky words he’s been learning. We were helped by the repetitive part of the text.

October 2016 Ryelee enjoys some Mog tales

ptdc0016  Ryelee has recently discovered the Mog stories   by Judith Kerr. Here he is engrossed in Mog and the Bunny. We have also shared Mog the Forgetful Cat where clever Mog helps to catch a burglar. Ryelee is now enjoying his reading and we have lots of fun looking at the illustrations and talking about the detail. We have also ordered pictures from the beginning, middle and end of the story.

WC 16th May. Room on the Broom

Layla achieved her target. She chose one of her favourite picture books for me to read to her. As I read Layla pointed to the text moving her finger left to right and page to page. She also joined in with some of the repetitive lines adding actions for words such as "whoosh"! So pleased with Layla. She is now enjoying sharing stories more and more.

WC 11.1.16 Kady loves picture book “Shhh!”

Kady in Yr 2 has been sharing some picture books. She loves this one about a wolf hunting for Preston pig. It involves lifting flaps but sneaky Preston is not where you'd expect him to be! The repetition of the words means that it is easy to join in.

WC 9/11 Layla learning I

Layla has made some large letter I's to help her learn this tricky word. She has really enjoyed this and proudly shows them to everyone.

Layla in year 1 has made some large letter I’s to help her learn this tricky word. She has really enjoyed this and proudly shows them to everyone. Layla is now taking them home to show her family. We are also making mini books based on her favourite picture book Dear Zoo. Each page has the text “I see……” with an animal picture from the book.  Layla loves choosing the animals for each page and reading back the ‘story’ too!
