Kayden in Year 3 has been enjoying Hmm… by Colin McNaughton this week. We talked about all the jobs that Mr Wolf could do and Kayden told me he would like to be a cook. Kayden helped me to read the story today and recognised some of the tricky words he’s been learning. We were helped by the repetitive part of the text.
Ashlee in Year 3 helped me to create a sentence using his target sight word ‘they’. We wrote it on post it notes then put the words in the right order. Ashlee then made some play dough slugs to go with his sentence! Here the slugs are taking a look at the words in the sentence to check they are in the right order.
Action shots of Ashlee from Year 3 rolling a giant dice which has his target HF sight words on. He has to roll each of the six words once and rub them off his list on the white board to win. Of course Mrs Wood is also trying to win by rubbing out her list of six words first! Ashlee loves this game as it involves a bit of action around the room. His reading of the HF target words has become more consistent over the last half term. The game is very popular and Ashlee wants to play this every day.
