WC 29/2/16 Ashlee creates a play dough picture

imageimageAshlee in Year 3 helped me to create a sentence using his target  sight word ‘they’. We wrote it on post it notes then put the words in the right order. Ashlee then made some  play dough slugs to go with his sentence! Here the slugs are taking a look at the words in the sentence to check they are in  the right order.

WC 8/2/2016 Kaynes fabulous wow words

Kayne really blew me away with the fantastic wow words in the story he wrote in class at the end of last week. Written without prompts he is beginning to use some of the fabulous vocabulary  that he comes across in  the books he's reading.

Kayne in Year 5  really blew me away with the fantastic wow words in Humpty Dumped, a story he created in class at the end of last week. Written without prompts, he is beginning to use some of the fabulous vocabulary that he comes across in the books he’s reading. Kayne is also trying very hard to improve the quality of his handwriting. Great work Kayne!

WC 1/2/2016 Ashlee plays Giant Dice Lotto

Of course Mrs Wood is also trying to win by rubbing out her list of six words first! Ashlee loves this game as it involves a bit of action around the room. His reading of the HF target words has become more consistent over the last half term.  The game is very popular and Ashlee wants to play this every day.

WC 18/1/16 Michael shares a favourite book

Michael in Year 2 chose Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson as one of his favourite picture books. We read it together and talked about the pictures as we read. Michael was able to join in the repetition. We enjoyed seeing how scared the dragon was of the "monster"!£

WC 11.1.16 Kady loves picture book “Shhh!”

Kady in Yr 2 has been sharing some picture books. She loves this one about a wolf hunting for Preston pig. It involves lifting flaps but sneaky Preston is not where you'd expect him to be! The repetition of the words means that it is easy to join in.

WC 4/1/16 Harriet beats Mrs Wood

Harriet loves playing our new game of Make 6! She especially loves it when she beats MrsWood. In the game we roll a dice to collect 6 words in a phonic family pattern. Colours are used to reinforce the pattern in each word.

WC 9/11 Layla learning I

Layla has made some large letter I's to help her learn this tricky word. She has really enjoyed this and proudly shows them to everyone.

Layla in year 1 has made some large letter I’s to help her learn this tricky word. She has really enjoyed this and proudly shows them to everyone. Layla is now taking them home to show her family. We are also making mini books based on her favourite picture book Dear Zoo. Each page has the text “I see……” with an animal picture from the book.  Layla loves choosing the animals for each page and reading back the ‘story’ too!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WC October 5th Amazing Ryelee

Ryelee is working so hard learning the tricky words. He is so proud of his achievement this week as he can now read 21 new ones! You can see how proud he is by the big smile on his face.

He’s even asking if he can have a look at the word list each time I see him to try and achieve more. This has really boosted his reading confidence.
